CHICAGO – Midan Marketing and Crowd Cow, an online purveyor of craft meats, recently formed a partnership focused on learning more about consumers who use e-commerce platforms to buy meat.
Midan and Crowd Cow will gather data that will clearly identify and define the online meat shopper. That information will be used to develop strategies that help the meat industry and retailers meet consumers’ needs and offer convenient options for buying high-quality meat.
“Partnering with Crowd Cow, a thriving online marketplace for high-quality meats led by successful tech startup founders, is an exciting new venture,” said Michael Uetz, principal at Midan Marketing. “Crowd Cow’s success thus far demonstrates their innovative approach to online meat commerce and their ability to help move our industry forward.
“This partnership will allow us to combine Midan’s meat and research knowledge and experience with Crowd Cow’s e-commerce expertise to help learn how to best serve consumers and increase satisfaction with online meat purchasing,” Uetz said. “Teaming up with Crowd Cow will also give Midan a thorough understanding of the online meat consumer and how this evolving commerce platform can be used to increase meat sales.”
Founded in 2015, Crowd Cow’s business model involves selling “shares” of a single animal. The company processes orders only when all parts of the animal are sold. The company’s network of independent ranchers produce a variety of meats ranging from the everyday to the exotic including grass-fed beef to Kagoshima A5 Wagyu from Japan.
“We have created a platform that allows us to personalize the online shopping experience and to deliver perishable meat products directly to consumers cost-effectively with very high customer satisfaction,” said Joe Heitzeberg, co-founder and CEO at Crowd Cow. “We were impressed to learn about Midan’s passion for and expertise within the meat industry. We believe partnering with Midan will allow us to better understand the meat eaters of tomorrow.”
