SPRINGDALE, Ark. – A Tyson facility in Glen Allen, Va. Has received certification to export poultry to Russia, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The Glen Allen facility was one of 33 companies barred from exporting poultry to Russia after that country universally banned chlorine-treated poultry imports in early 2010. The ban cost Tyson an estimated $85 million in lost sales potential.

Russia agreed to lift the ban in June 2010 after US chicken companies agreed to use non-chlorine treatments on chicken being exported to Russia. Russia is the largest US export market for chicken.
