BATTLE CREEK, MICH. – The chicken sandwich craze is no longer relegated to consumers’ favorite fast-food drive-thru. Kellogg Co. recently jumped on the bandwagon with a co-branded Pringles chip flavor, Wendy’s Spicy Chicken. Billed as a limited-edition offering and similar to its introduction of Pringles’ Wendy’s Baconator flavored chip in 2020, the iconic chip brand again challenged its R&D professionals, this time to duplicate the flavor of Wendy’s fiery chicken sandwich in a single-bite product.
“Following the enthusiasm for Pringles Baconator, we knew we had to challenge ourselves and perfectly capture the flavor of another popular menu item,” said Gareth Maguire, senior director of marketing for Pringles. “The debut of Pringles Wendy’s Spicy Chicken provides a crunchy, unnecessarily genius way to enjoy the spicy, juicy deliciousness of the No. 1, hands down best chicken sandwich in the US … in a single crisp.”
As part of the partnership, each can of the new chips is labeled with a code on its seal that enables consumers to receive a free spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s with a purchase made using its mobile app.
“Wendy’s fans can now enjoy our insanely flavorful Spicy Chicken Sandwich in their crisps to satisfy taste buds until their next restaurant visit,” said Carl Loredo, chief marketing officer for the Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s Co.
