OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Lasalle, Quebec-based Levitts Foods Inc. issued a recall of Compliments brand smoked beef pastrami on Nov. 22 due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The product has been sold in Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia and possibly distributed in other provinces and territories.

The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products, and warns consumers not to eat the following product:

  • Compliments brand Smoked Beef Pastrami in 175-gram package, UPC 0 68820 13360 5 with a best before date code “BEST BEFORE 2020/DE/25 and establishment code, EST 48.

Consumers were urged to call a doctor if they became sick from eating the products. Recalled products still in the home should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.
