LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Papa John’s announced that it signed the Better Chicken Commitment according to Animal Equality and The Humane League UK. The pizza chain agreed to animal welfare changes that will affect the 630 stores in Europe. 

“It is every company’s responsibility to ensure the good health, welfare and wellness of all animals throughout their supply chain,” said Liz Williams, managing director in UK & Major Markets of Papa John’s International. “At Papa John’s we are passionate about providing Better Ingredients Better Pizza and as part of that, committed to only sourcing products from suppliers with high levels of Animal Welfare from farm to slaughter.”

The international organization also applauded Papa John’s for adding plant-based options to the menu and hiring a chief vegan officer.

In 2015, Papa John’s moved away from poultry raised using antibiotics and completed the transition in summer 2016.
