WASHINGTON – Ohanyan’s Bastirma & Soujouk Co. is recalling approximately 159,291 lbs. of beef sausage products because of undeclared soy lecithin, a known allergen. Ohanyan’s is a Fresno, Calif., producer of Mediterranean meat and pasta products.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service said an inspector with the agency was reviewing ingredients on Ohanyan’s products and noticed that canola oil spray was used on the interior of the company's tubs. Canola oil spray is a release agent.

The affected products include 1-lb. Cryovac packages of SOUJOUK Dried Beef Sausage Hot & Spicy; and 1-lb. Cryovac packages of SOUJOUK Dried Beef Sausage Mild. Both products have establishment number 5867-A within the USDA mark of inspection and a sell-by date printed on the product label.

The sausage products were made between April 30, 2014, and April 30, 2015, FSIS reported. The items were shipped to distributors, retailers and consumers nationwide.
