LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas House of Representatives approved a measure that would name Springdale, Ark., the "Poultry Capital of the World", according to news reports. The state Senate already approved the measure by a unanimous vote.
The Arkansas House approved the bill on an 85-0 vote, and Gov. Mike Beebe is expected to sign the bill into law. Springdale is home to Tyson Foods, Inc.
The designation would be written into state law that names the state's official flower, motto and bird. The idea is part of a plan to market Springdale, which is in Northwest Arkansas. The proposal does not require state funding.
