WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on June 1, 2013, totaled 26.4 million, down 13 percent from a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Eggs in incubators were slightly higher from the May 1, 2013, total of 26.3 million eggs.

Turkey poults hatched during May 2013, declined 13 percent to 22.1 million. Poults hatched were down 4 percent from the April 2013 total of 23.0 million poults, NASS reported.


The 21.8 million net poults placed during May 2013 were 13 percent lower compared to the number placed during the comparable year ago period. Net placements declined 2 percent from the April 2013 total of 22.1 million.
