WASHINGTON – Turkey eggs in incubators on May 1 totaled 26.3 million, down 11 percent from compared to a year ago, the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service reported. Eggs in incubators declined 4 percent from the April 1 total of 27.5 million eggs.

Poults hatched during April 2013 totaled 23.0 million, down 5 percent from April 2012, according to NASS. Poults hatched increased 6 percent from the March 2013 total of 21.7 million poults.


Net poults placed during April were down 9 percent to 22.4 million net poults. Net placements were up 6 percent from the March 2013 total of 21.2 million, NASS said.
