DAKOTA CITY, Neb. – An accident killed a Tyson Foods employee working at the company's Dakota City, Neb., plant.

Emergency workers were called to the plant shortly after midnight March 15. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, but died. The victim's name has not been released.

"We’re deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our Dakota City, Neb., team members in an accident early this morning and are investigating what happened," the company responded in an e-mail statement. "A team of Tyson safety and operations management staff members are involved in the investigation. OSHA will also be notified. Tyson chaplains have been called in to provide support. Because of the accident, there will be no first shift operations today in the beef carcass production part of the Dakota City plant."
