GARDEN CITY, KAN. – A Tyson Foods worker at its Garden City, Kan., beef plant died in an accident on March 23. 

“We’re deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Finney County team members and our hearts go out to his family,” the company said. “The accident happened Monday morning in our Harvest Department. We’re working with local authorities to investigate what happened and we’ve also notified OSHA. Tyson chaplains are available to provide support to the family and our Finney County team members.”

The Finney County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page that 30-year-old Kendrick Gregory was taken to the hospital by emergency medical service providers, where he died.

Police said in their initial investigation that Gregory was pulled up by his harness against a takeaway belt and a co-worker cut him free.

The Sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
