KENT, Wash. — Meat snack processor Oberto Brands, maker of the Oh Boy! Oberto meat snack brand, plans to introduce bacon jerky in February 2013. The company said the jerky is made with bacon, water, sea salt and sugar, and has 20 percent less fat than pan-fried bacon.
“Oberto’s sales have grown tremendously the past few years, thanks in large part to the popularity of our All Natural Jerky line, and we can’t wait to add All Natural Bacon Jerky into the mix,” said Tom Ennis, chief executive officer of Oberto Brands. “Bacon is a high-penetration category with more than half of households reporting that they have bacon in their home 365 days a year. Now we are giving consumers the opportunity to eat bacon at the office, in the car, out camping or wherever they need a quick, satisfying snack.”
The new product will be sold in 2.5-oz packages and have a suggested retail price of $5.99 to $6.49.
