ATLANTA – John Bowie has joined Church’s Chicken as president, U.S. operations. Bowie will oversee all company and franchise restaurants operations and joins a team of veteran industry leaders who have been hired over the last year to support the brand’s growth and retail initiatives.

“John’s quick-service restaurant experience, expertise and solid track record for delivering results will be a catalyst in driving relentless satisfaction for our customers and franchisees,” said Mel Deane, chief executive officer, Church’s Chicken. “We look forward to his future contributions in creating superior value for all of our stakeholders.”


Since 2007 Bowie served as senior vice president, restaurant operations at Friendly’s Ice Cream Corporation. He was responsible for the overall operations of more than 500 restaurants with a strategic focus on improving operational efficiency and improving quality, service and cleanliness that delivered significant gains in customer satisfaction.

Before joining Friendly’s, he was with Wendy’s International for 13 years where he held positions in marketing, international and general management. In his position as divisional vice president, mid-Atlantic, he was responsible for 700 company and franchise restaurants generating close to $1 billion in sales.

Church's Chicken is one of the largest quick-service chicken concepts in the world. As of March 2010, the Church's system consisted of more than 1,700 locations worldwide in 22 countries, with system sales approaching $1.2 billion.
