MIAMI — Popeyes announced a permanent chicken sandwich addition to menus across the United States and Canada — the first since 2019 — with the Blackened Chicken Sandwich. The fast-casual restaurant brand also introduced a bacon and cheese add-on to any sandwich, giving guests more variety when craving a chicken sandwich.

The now permanent sandwich item was introduced as a limited-time offer in November 2022.

The breading-free Blackened Chicken Sandwich features a whole chicken breast that has been marinated for 12 hours and seasoned with a blend of Cajun spices, served on a toasted brioche bun with Popeyes’ classic or spicy mayo and barrel-cured pickles.

With the bacon and cheese add-on, customers get a combo of bacon and melted Havarti cheese to enhance any sandwich’s flavors.

“As we expand our iconic Chicken Sandwich line-up, the Blackened Chicken Sandwich will provide guests with a lighter option that is perfect for everyday,” said Sami Siddiqui, Popeyes president. “And, with the addition of bacon and cheese, our loyal fans will now have six chicken sandwich options to choose from, all with the irresistible Cajun flavors and boldness they crave.”

The Blackened Chicken Sandwich is available nationwide starting at $4.99. The bacon and cheese customization starts at $1.50.
