REHOVOT, ISRAEL – MeaTech 3D Ltd., a manufacturer of meat made from animal cells, joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which supports corporate sustainability efforts.

The initiative aligns companies with 10 principles that encompass human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. Members also agree to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established by the UN. 

“MeaTech is proud to commit to the principles of the UN Global Compact,” said Arik Kaufman, MeaTech’s chief executive officer. “Not only are these principles in line with our own specific business goals as a leading cultured meat company, but we also believe that it is incumbent on all businesses and organizations to act ambitiously as a global community to solve the sustainable development challenges facing our planet." 

MeaTech will submit an annual Communication on Progress (COP) describing the company's efforts to implement the ten principles as a requirement for participation in the initiative. The company said it supports public accountability and transparency and will report on progress within one year and annually.
