CAMILLA, GA. — A Tyson Foods employee, 31-year-old Rondarius Williams, was killed during a shooting in the parking lot of the company’s Camilla, Ga., chicken processing plant on June 2.

According to a report by WFXL, the Mitchell County coroner identified the victim and pronounced him dead at the county hospital emergency room.

A Tyson official confirmed the news to MEAT+POULTRY.

“We’re deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our team members,” said Worth Sparkman, spokesperson for Tyson Foods. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Williams’ family, his friends and co-workers during this very difficult time. We are making arrangements for our corporate chaplains to provide counseling and support to family members and team members who want it.”

The company also confirmed that the facility did not operate on the night of June 2 or the morning of June 3 following the shooting.

The Thomasville Times-Enterprise said the Thomasville Police Department arrested a suspect, who was reportedly a co-worker of the victim.
