BARCELONA, SPAIN – As concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on international travel restrictions continue to increase, organizers of the 2020 edition of the Alimentaria International Food, Beverages and Foodservice Trade Show, scheduled for April 20-23 in Barcelona, have announced they will postpone the trade show until Sept. 14-17.
The international food and beverage show, organized by Alimentaria Exhibitions, is held every two years in six halls of the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona. The show is held alongside Hostelco, the International Exhibition of Equipment for Catering, Hospitality and Collectives.
By the end of 2019, more than 92% of the 1.1 million square feet of exhibition space was booked by food, beverage and foodservice companies from around the world.
The two trade shows jointly will feature more than 4,500 exhibiting companies (1,000 of them from 70 countries) and about 150,000 visitors (30% of them international) from 156 countries.
“Although the hired space is practically full, we’ve reached this decision following an in-depth assessment of the situation and after listening to the sector…with the aim of guaranteeing the smooth running of such an important international event, after finding suitable alternative dates in our trade fair calendar,” said Constantí Serrallonga, general manager of Fira de Barcelona.
