WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Weimar, Texas-based J Bar B Foods is recalling approximately 51,188 lbs. of ready-to-eat (RTE) cheddar smoked sausage products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product contains milk, which is not declared on the product label. The Cheddar Smoked Sausage items were incorrectly labeled as Original Smoked Sausage.

The problem was discovered when a retail store notified the company of the incorrect label. The items were produced on Jan. 19, 2019, and bear establishment number “7066A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled items, which were shipped to retail locations in Texas, include:

  • 14-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of “H-E-B MADE IN TEXAS ORIGINAL Smoked Sausage” with a sell by date of 5/19/19 and lot code LN2 90149.  

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
