SALISBURY, Md. – A veteran marketing and online retail executive has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of e-commerce and new ventures with Perdue Foods. David Zucker, joins the company from Omaha Steaks International, where he was general manager and chief marketing officer. His background also includes working as chief marketing officer for online vitamin and supplement company, Vitacost.com and a similar role with Gilt Groupe, an online retailer of fashion merchandise. Zucker brings more than 25 years of experience in marketing, product development and call center management to the new role with Perdue.

“E-commerce is an increasingly important part of the Perdue Foods growth plan, and we’re pleased that David Zucker is onboard to lead our efforts,” said Mark McKay, president of Perdue Premium Poultry. “We have to meet consumers where they are today, which is more and more online, and expanding our presence is vital to drive new growth for our business and brands.”

Zucker’s academic background includes earning a doctorate in environmental economics from the Univ. of Rhode Island; a master’s in applied economics from West Virginia Univ. and a bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University. He also taught business and economic classes as an adjunct professor at the Univ. of South Florida and Rutgers Univ.
