SANDUSKY, Ohio – Thomas M. Routh, CEO and president of J.H. Routh Packing Co., died on Oct. 3, 2018 at the age of 68. Routh, who led the family-owned company that was founded by W.C. Routh as the Sandusky Packing Co. evolved to become a large-scale pork processing operation and is best known for its Daisyfield Brand of fresh and processed pork products that serve customers domestically as well as products it exports throughout North America and in Asia.

Routh, a Norwalk resident who was active in his community and in the meat industry, is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine; his sons, Ryan and Adam; and his daughters, Leslie Macin and Bridget Jablonski. The obituary for Routh was posted on the Norwalk Reflector website. A memorial service was held in Norwalk on Oct. 7, 2018.

“Tom was a dedicated and well-respected member of our Board and a tremendous human being,” said Barry Carpenter, who recently retired as president of the North American Meat Institute. “He cared deeply about his industry, his community and most importantly, his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.”
