KANSAS CITY, Mo. – While meat and poultry processors make strides in improving food safety prevention and detection every production shift, every year has its shares of recalls announced by the US Dept. of Agriculture’s Foods Safety and Inspection Service. In 2016, pounds of products totaling at least six-digits were triggered by a variety of causes, ranging from pathogen issues, foreign matter detection, allergen and labeling issues.
