GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce named Marel Gainesville the 2015 Industry of the Year. The award is given based on economic impact, workforce excellence and corporate responsibility. Michael Otterbach, vice president of Regional Manufacturing, Americas, accepted the honor on behalf of the company the chamber’s 7th Annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon.

Otterbach highlighted Marel Gainesville’s achievements, which include:

• Introduction and first sales of a new product line for the poultry industry (8” lines for Big Birds).

• Integration of the manufacturing operations from the Des Moines facility into the Gainesville location bringing meat and further processing product lines to our location and transforming our facility from poultry only to a multi-industry regional manufacturing center.

• First production of a new product for Marel: the salmon skinner, now covering all four Marel industries within the Gainesville location.

“But all this could not have been done without the dedication and support from our employees,” he said. “I want to thank all employees of Marel Gainesville for their hard work and dedication. This reward is for you.”

Achieving this honor qualifies Marel Gainesville to compete at the state level. “The Greater Hall Chamber in conjunction with Lanier Technical College will be jointly nominating [your company] for the annual State of Georgia Manufacturer of the Year Award for 2016,” said Shelly Davis, the chamber’s vice president of Existing Industry.
