LAKE FOREST, Calif. – Del Taco has launched a new turkey taco, the first Mexican fast-food concept to offer ground turkey as a protein option, the company said.

Each Turkey Taco has 150 calories and 33 percent less fat than Del Taco's seasoned beef offering. The new tacos sell for $1.29 and feature a crunchy corn or warm flour tortilla with cheddar cheese, lettuce and pico de gallo. Del Taco is also offering a Turkey CrunchTada Tostada, an extension of the company's CrunchTada product line.

"Turkey Tacos reinforce our guest promise to serve quality, made-to-order menu items created with freshly prepared ingredients at an unbelievable price," said John Cappasola, the company's executive vice president and chief brand officer. "We're proud to accommodate the growing number of guests who prefer turkey as a protein option but still want great flavor."

Del Taco has 547 restaurants in 18 states serving more than three million customers each week.
