LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with the Poultry Federation announced the official opening of its new headquarters building April 18, which includes the Don and Randal Tyson Conference Center.
Commemorating the opening of the facility was John Tyson, chairman of Tyson Foods, Inc. and Marvin Childers, president of The Poultry Federation. Tyson Foods made a $1 million donation toward the construction of the building and conference center as part of a commitment made in 2010, by John’s father, Don Tyson, the company’s former chairman who died in 2011. The cost of the building, including construction, furniture and equipment, was about $2 million.
The building is located at 321 South Victory St. in Little Rock and will serve as the headquarters for The Poultry Federation, which serves the poultry and egg industry in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The conference center will be available for meetings by government officials and used for industry meetings. The center is named in honor of the late Don Tyson and his half-brother, Randal Tyson, an executive with the company when he died in 1986.
“The Poultry Federation’s new building represents the future of the poultry business, which is so important to Arkansas and nearby states,” said John Tyson, who was unable to attend the event in person and made his comments via videoconference. “The Federation is a leader in addressing poultry industry and agricultural issues and we’re proud to be part of it.”
