What started as a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign in July became a bona fide business with a line of gourmet beef jerky products. Three Jerks Jerky is made from 100 percent filet mignon and free of nitrates, nitrites and monosodium glutamate (MSG).
"Filet mignon creates in incomparable piece of beef jerky because it is innately more tender and buttery than any other cut, while being the leanest piece of meat available," said Jordan Barrocas, co-founder of Three Jerks Jerky. "The difference is noticeable and after eating Three Jerks Jerky it's tough, no pun intended, to eat any other brand."
The line currently features three flavors: Original, Memphis BBQ and Chipotle Adobo. The products are available at www.threejerksjerky.com and in Eataly NYC, a high-end food market owned by celebrity chefs Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich, and Joe Bastianich. The 'Jerks' plan to expand distribution to include gourmet markets, specialty food stores, full service catering companies, hotels and restaurants/bars.
