OAK BROOK, Ill. – Angus steak is on the breakfast menu at McDonald’s.

For a limited time, McDonald’s Corp. is offering a steak option with any of its breakfast sandwiches. So, diners looking to beef up their Egg McMuffin or Egg & Cheese Bagel can now pay extra for Angus steak. Additionally customers can also substitute steak for sausage in any breakfast platter, such as the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes which includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns and a buttermilk biscuit. The company rolled out the steak option in August.

McDonald’s has made several strategic moves to improve sales which have come under pressure from the general trend of declining foot traffic at foodservice establishments. The fast casual chain has tried to differentiate itself from competitors through product innovations, promotions and its value menu.

The company reported a 0.2 percent increase in US comparable sales for August.
