DEARBORN, Mich. – Ford may have created a happy medium for bacon lovers and car enthusiasts. The automaker has unveiled custom bacon graphics for the company's 2014 Ford Fiesta in honor of International Bacon Day Aug. 31.

The full "Bacon Wrap" includes 10 giant strips of bacon rolled around the entire Fiesta. Allan Benton, CEO of Benton's Country Hams, approved the design.

"In the 40 years I've been in this business, I've never seen so much interest in bacon," Benton said. "It's being used in bourbon, chocolate, ground beef, caramel corn and whatever else you can think of. This car just makes so much sense."

Other options for the bacon-wrapped Fiesta are bacon racing strips, which are two pieces of bacon that go on the car's hood and resemble classic dual racing stripes; and a side of bacon, which are two individual strips of bacon that wrap over the rear wheel. Ford Custom Graphics produces the wraps along with 3M Original Wraps.

"It's no secret that bacon inspires a lot of passion, and that's what the Fiesta celebrates," said Liz Elser, Ford Fiesta marketing manager. "Our customers have a hunger for self-expression. Plus, it's just awesome to drive down the road in a piece of bacon."
