DEARBORN, Mich. – McDonald's will no longer serve halal menu items at two of its restaurants in the United States that offered halal food, according to a USA Todayreport. Both restaurants were in Dearborn, Mich., which boasts a large population of Arab-American Muslims.

The move comes after the fast casual chain settled a lawsuit that accused the company of selling non-halal foods as halal. In April, McDonald's settled the lawsuit for $700,000 and denied any wrongdoing. The company began selling halal foods at the Dearborn locations in 2000.
