WASHINGTON – The American Meat Institute (AMI) released a new video series highlighting environmental management and sustainability initiatives in the meat and poultry industry.

AMI interviewed industry stakeholders and collected their stories regarding the various ways in which meat and poultry companies manage their resources and benefit the environment. The videos are aimed at encouraging companies to use AMI’s educational and web-based resources to improve and expand sustainability and environmental management programs at the plant and corporate levels.

“The meat and poultry industry has made significant progress in its environmental management and sustainability efforts,” said J. Patrick Boyle, AMI president and CEO. “These videos help illuminate the efforts that so many in the industry are making to produce food in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.”

The videos are broken into four parts highlighting:

• The Importance of an Environmental Management System
• Key Approaches Within Environmental Management Systems
• The Importance of the AMI Environmental Recognition Awards
• Messages to Consumers about the Industry’s Environmental & Sustainability Efforts

The videos will can be found on AMI’s Meat News Network YouTube channel and featured on SustainableMeatIndustry.org along with various resources on environmental and sustainability efforts in the meat and poultry industry.
