HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Tyson Prepared Foods is recalling 12,060 lbs. of pizza toppings because of misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The packaging label says the pizza toppings are beef when it's actually pork. Also, the pork contains soy, which is a known potential allergen. A product purchaser reported the problem, according to FSIS. The agency and Tyson have received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products, FSIS added.

The products subject to the recall are 10-lb. cartons labeled as "Cooked Pizza Topping" containing two, 5-lb. packages labeled as "ARREZZIO-COOKED BEEF PIZZA TOPPING MANZO COTTO PER PIZZA." FSIS said the products also bear the establishment number "EST. 623" on the label. Tyson produced the toppings Jan. 12, 2012. They were sold to foodservice institutions nationwide via a distributor. The product is intended for use in foodservice and has not been sold in retail grocery stores, FSIS said.
