SÃO PAULO, Brazil – JBS SA's holding company, J&F Participacoes SA, has chosen Henrique Meirelles as its chairman, according to a report from Bloomberg.

Meirelles is Brazil's longest-serving central bank president — his tenure was 2003 to 2010, according to Bloomberg. In his role as chairman of J&F, he will define the company's global strategies. He also will create the J&F board along with Joesley Batista, chief executive officer. Batista will retain his position as chairman of JBS.

J&F controls Vigor Alimentos SA, a dairy company, pulp maker Eldorado Celulose & Papel SA, and lender Banco Original.
