COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Tyson Foods Inc. has reached a tentative settlement with workers at a Council Bluffs meat processing plant, according to the Associated Press.

Employees filed a donning/doffing lawsuit against the company, and claimed they should have been paid for time spent putting on clothes and cleaning equipment and sharpening knives before and after shifts. Tyson has denied any wrongdoing.

The settlement, which is $950,000, would cover 1,200 workers. The settlement would give plaintiff’s lawyers $340,000 for out-of-pocket costs and $390,000 in attorney’s fees. Current and former workers dating back to 2006 could claim payments from the remaining $271,000.

Attorneys for both sides are seeking court approval for the deal, according to AP.
