ACCOMAC, Va. – Perdue AgriBusiness has sold a rendering plant in Accomac, Va., and another facility in Lewiston, NC, to Valley Proteins, Inc., Winchester, Va., according to delmarvanow.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the sale is expected to close in two weeks.

The Accomac facility has 75 employees. Valley Proteins will continue to operate both facilities. Perdue will continue to send raw materials to the facilities.

Valley Proteins collects and recycles used restaurant grease and inedible animal by-products from restaurants, supermarkets, abattoirs and poultry processing facilities, according to the company's website. Conversion plants turn the by-products into feed fat and meal products. Valley Proteins also manufactures biofuels.
