WASHINGTON — William Kristol, editor of the Washington-based political magazine,The Weekly Standard, will be the keynote speaker at the American Meat Institute Political Action Committee Washington Insider breakfast during the 2011 AMI International Meat, Poultry & Seafood Industry Convention and Exposition, April 13-16, at McCormick Place, Chicago, Ill.


Kristol regularly appears on FOX News Sunday and FOX News Channel. As an advocate for a strong American foreign policy, he pushed forward the foreign policy debate after Sept. 11, 2001, and helped drive the conversation on the Iraq war. He was a columnist for TIME magazine and The New York Times.

Before startingThe Weekly Standard in 1995, Kristol led the Project for the Republican Future, where he helped shape the strategy that produced the 1994 Republican Congressional victory. Prior to that, Kristol served as chief of staff to vice president Dan Quayle during the Bush administration and to Secretary of Education William Bennett under President Reagan. Before coming to Washington in 1985, Kristol taught politics at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Kristol is the co-author of The New York Times bestsellerThe War Over Iraq: America's Mission and Saddam's Tyranny (2003). He also edited the well-received anthologyThe Weekly Standard, A Reader: 1995-2005(2006).
