STEINBACH, MANITOBA — HyLife Ltd., a pork producer in Canada, announced that Grant Lazaruk, president and chief executive officer would retire on Feb. 29, 2024.

Lazaruk joined the company in 1997 and was named CEO in 2010.

“We have a solid leadership team at HyLife. I feel the timing is right for me to transition and focus more on community-minded initiatives, such as the Southeast Event Centre in Steinbach, Manitoba,” Lazaruk said. “I want to continue to give back where I can, to support my neighbours and the place I call home.  I am also looking forward to spending more time with my family and grandchildren,” shared Lazaruk,  reflecting on his upcoming retirement.”

After the announcement, Hylife named Karan Sangfai as the next president and CEO for the company starting on March 1. Before the promotion, Sanfgai worked as chief strategy officer for Hylife.

The company said that Karan has been a major part of the leadership team since 2022 and immersed himself in Steinbach community where the Hylife’s headquarters is located. 

“I am honored to take on this role. It is a privilege to lead a company with such a strong reputation. On behalf of the shareholders, I would like to thank Grant for his many years of service to HyLife,” Sangfai said. “Grant has not only built a great company, but a great team with a collaborative culture. Our industry has recently faced challenges, but HyLife is strong and well-positioned.  I look forward to leading our company to new successes, carrying on our traditions and unwavering partnerships in the communities where we live and work.”

Under Sangfai’s leadership Hylife said it is poised to reach new heights and continue its commitment to excellence.
