DENISON, TEXAS – Ruiz Food Products Inc., a manufacturer of prepared frozen foods for distribution to retail, convenience stores, warehouse clubs, vending, industrial and foodservice, announced that it opened a new on-site health center for its insured employees and covered family members at its Denison, Texas, plant, replacing an existing off-site facility.

The Ruiz Foods Health Center, operated by CareATC will provide insured employees and their covered family members access to primary care, including lab tests and chronic health services at no additional cost. The health center will be staffed by a physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner and two medical assistants.

“The Ruiz Foods family values the significance of on-site healthcare and the convenience it offers our team members without extra expenses or co-pays,” said Matt Ruiz, Ruiz Foods director of corporate and community relations and son of co-founder, Fred Ruiz. “While our former near-site health center was helpful to our team members, the added convenience of this new on-site health center is a perfect reflection of our values as a family owned company that deeply cares for our team members.”

In November, Ruiz opened a similar on-site health center at its Florence, SC, plant and plans to have another on-site clinic at its Dinuba, Calif., location by early 2024.

“National research shows on-site health centers help improve the health of team members, while at the same time, lowering the overall cost of care,” said Kimberli Carroll, Ruiz Foods chief operating officer. “Ruiz Foods team members appreciate that our health centers intentionally schedule longer appointments than standard clinics. This allows our healthcare professionals more time to address questions and enhance the overall health of our team members.”

Carroll added that the Ruiz Foods Health Center in Denison will have extended hours twice a week to accommodate team members working second and third shifts.
