MOSCOW, RUSSIA — Cherkizovo Group, one of Russia’s largest meat producers, opened a broiler chicken facility in the Lebedyansky District. The company invested $4.3 million into the farm to enable Cherkizovo Group to increase its chicken meat production in the region by 10%.

Operating as a parent stock site, the facility consists of 32 buildings covering a total of 355,000 square feet.

Cherkizovo Group decided to repurpose the facility in order to support its plans to ramp up broiler meat production. Reconstruction included the renovation of feeding, watering, ventilation systems and staff changing rooms.

With 120,900 tonnes of live weight, Cherkizovo Group said it is responsible for 60.3% of total poultry production in the region. After launching additional breeding facilities, the company plans to bolster its broiler output by 12,000 tonnes per year.

Cherkizovo Group noted it can produce more than 1 million tonnes of broiler meat annually with poultry farms in other Russian regions.
