ALEXANDRIA, LA. – Krispy Krunchy Chicken, an established fried chicken concept with roots in the convenience store segment, announced on Sept. 14, plans to target younger customers by branding its products at additional college campuses across the country. Krispy Krunchy currently offers its products at the campuses that include the University of North Texas, University of Nebraska Omaha and Indiana State University. The company has upgraded its infrastructure to add more university locations to its portfolio.

While Krispy Krunchy continues to add locations in convenience stores, the brand also offers its products at big box retailers, truck stops and casinos. In recent months, Krispy Krunchy has developed a more streamlined menu, invested in new tools for operators and improved its supply chain processes, which it hopes will facilitate growth at colleges and university campuses.

“Students have a great appreciation for our products, which have a built-in comfort-food dimension to which they respond,” said Jim Norberg, president of Krispy Krunchy Chicken. “Our presence at universities makes us more accessible and convenient for the college student lifestyle.”

Norberg said Krispy Krunchy’s strategy moving forward includes equipping operators with the tools they need while facilitating opportunities in new venues and markets.

“It’s imperative that we offer them the resources, support and flexibility to be successful,” he said. “By exploring and expanding into new territories, we open up exciting opportunities for our operators, while bringing our freshly made, hand-breaded chicken to their customers.”

Since its founding in 1989, Krispy Krunchy Chicken has grown sales to more than 1 million lbs of chicken per week at more than 2,850 retail locations in 47 states. The company’s signature products include its mild Cajun-spiced, hand-breaded fried chicken and chicken tenders made with white meat.
