CORYDON, IND. — A Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) Act posted by the state of Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development provided more information on how the closure will impact operations at the Tyson Foods Inc. poultry plant in Corydon, Ind.

The notice stated that 368 employees would be permanently terminated once the plant closed.

Earlier this week, the meat company announced it would close this Indiana facility, one plant in Arkansas and two plants in Missouri as part of its fiscal third-quarter earnings release.

According to the notice from Melvin Fulson Jr., division vice president of poultry for Tyson, the estimated last day of production at the Corydon plant is expected to be March 1, 2024.

“Tyson Foods regrets that its team members must be displaced yet hopes to accomplish this plant closing with the least possible disruption to team members, their families and the community,” the company said in the WARN notice.

Tyson officials are still determining what positions at the Corydon plant would be needed past March 1 to wind down operations and close the complex.

United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 227 and United Steel Workers Union Local 1693 represent some of the workers laid off.
