SÃO PAULO — JBS SA announced plans to build a feed production facility in Seberi, Brazil, that will supply pork producers in the 36 nearby municipalities. The company is investing BRL 250 million ($52,223,700) in the project.
JBS said the increased feed supply will enable producers to double pork breeding by the end of 2023. Currently, JBS operates over 40 feed facilities in the south, southeast and central-west regions of the country.
The over 500,000-square-foot feed factory will generate up to 110 direct jobs for the region. With the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes of feed per month, JBS estimates the facility will supply more than 300 pork-producing families of its subsidiary Seara.
The construction for the new feed facility is part of a series of investments announced by JBS in April 2021. The BRL 1.7 billion ($356,304,530) investments distributed throughout 2021-2023 include expansions and improvements of facilities across seven cities, including Seberi. Through the investments, JBS is increasing its production of natural protein and prepared foods.
