BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – Ralph Cator, founder of Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd, passed away on April 22 following a short illness.

Cator started the company in 1966 after working for his father at a butcher shop in Toronto.

He led the company for 25 years before turning the company over to his son Brent. During his tenure, Ralph joined the North American Meat Processors (now known as North American Meat Institute) and became the first Canadian president of the association in 1992.

Following his retirement from Cardinal Meats, he pursued photography and returned to school, where he later joined the Professional Photographers of Canada.
