RIDGELAND, Miss. – Cal-Maine Foods Inc. announced that it promoted Todd Walters to chief operating officer and named Matt Whiteman as vice president of operations starting on March 27.

After joining the company in 1997, Walters has worked as vice president of operations in South Texas and the subsidiary Wharton County Foods in Boling, Texas, since 2011.

He previously worked in management positions for other locations Cal-Maine runs, including in Mississippi, Kansas, New Mexico and Ohio.

“Todd Walters is well qualified to assume this role, having extensive experience with the various aspects of our operations across different locations and market regions,” said Sherman Miller, president and chief executive officer of Cal-Maine Foods. “He has done an exceptional job at every stage of his 26-year career with Cal-Maine Foods. He is also a recognized leader outside the company as an active member of industry associations. We will continue to benefit from his valuable insight and experience as we pursue our goal to be an efficient and sustainable producer.”

During his career, Walters served on the board of The Ohio Poultry Association, the Texas Poultry Federation and is an active member of the United Egg Producers.

Walters graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a major in poultry science.

Whiteman has worked with the company since 2011. He recently worked as general manager of the Waelder, Texas, operation. He also held management positions at various locations, including Edwards, Miss., Bremen, Ky., Guthrie, Ky., and Boling, Texas. Whiteman currently serves as the president of the Texas Egg Council, and as a board member of the Texas Poultry Federation. 

Whiteman is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in poultry science.
