REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. — Impossible Foods is bolstering its grocery lineup and expanding beyond plant-based meat alternatives to full meal solutions. The company is launching a line of frozen plant-based entrees called Impossible Bowls.
The single-serve bowls mark the first solely branded meal offering from Impossible, which has partnered with consumer packaged goods, meal kit and foodservice brands for meat-free versions of sausage ravioli, pizza, tacos and more.
The entrees were developed and distributed in partnership with Golden West Food Group, a diversified food manufacturing company based in California. The entrees incorporate a variety of Impossible proteins and tap into Asian, Latin, Italian and American cuisines. Varieties include sweet and sour Impossible Pork, chili mac with Impossible Pork, barbecue Impossible Pork and a pasta Bolognese made with Impossible Pork and Impossible Beef. The line also features a burrito bowl made with Impossible Beef, a spicy enchilada bowl made with Impossible Chicken and a spaghetti dish made with Impossible Meatballs. The dishes are all ready to serve in five minutes or less, according to the company.
Each 9-oz bowl contains 10 to 13 grams of protein and no more than 3 grams of saturated fat. They will be available at approximately 4,000 Walmart stores nationwide, beginning with the American- and Asian-style dishes in early September. The Italian- and Latin-inspired entrees will land on shelves in October.
