FLOWOOD, MISS. – An employee from the Sanderson Farms poultry plant in Flowood, Miss., was arrested following a knife incident at the plant on July 2.

The Flowood Police Department (FPD) responded to a call from the facility around 5 a.m., following an altercation that left one employee with life threatening injuries.

FPD arrested Lawrence Charles Gibson, who lives in Brandon, Miss., for aggravated assault.

“Prior to our arrival, the Sanderson Farms management team and security staff had already separated the two employees and they were able to surrender Gibson into police custody,” FPD said in its Facebook post.

Gibson was held on $1 million bond in the Rankin County Jail.

“The Flowood Police Department would like to thank Sanderson Farms for their quick response in securing Gibson and getting their injured employee the much-needed medical help,” the police added.
