LIVINGSTON, CALIF. – Foster Farms Inc. confirmed that an employee died in an industrial accident at its Livingston, Calif., plant last week.
“Foster Farms can confirm the death at our Livingston fertilizer plant facility, but can provide no additional details at this time,” a company spokesperson said. “We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones. Foster Farms will be fully cooperating with local authorities and Cal OSHA in an ongoing investigation.”
According to report in the Merced Sun- Star, the Merced County coroner identified the man as 50-year-old Mario Ramos Espinoza.
Cal/OSHA said that its Modesto district office was notified of the fatality on Jan. 27.
“An employee of Foster Farms working on a water truck at the fertilizer plant was found caught under the truck and pronounced dead at the scene on January 26,” the agency said in a statement.
