SOUTH SYDNEY, Australia – David Palmer, Meat & Livestock Australia's managing director, announced his resignation from the company on Dec. 15.

Don Heatley, MLA chairman, paid tribute to Palmer's service to the industry and MLA spanning 25 years, 15 with MLA. The MLA has begun recruiting a new managing director, with Palmer remaining in the position until his successor is appointed.


"David has been a passionate advocate and strategic influence on the industry and has led MLA with optimism, integrity and success,” he said. "February 2011 will mark five years for David as managing director of MLA and he feels it is the right time to move on and to allow different ideas to guide the company through its next phase."

During Palmer's tenure, many of industry's considerable investments in programs have matured to be key planks of Australia's international marketing advantage, Heatley said. "David can be rightly proud of his contribution to the industry and that he leaves a legacy of strong and stable administration that ensures MLA will continue to provide important service to the industry," he added.
