LIDCOMB, Australia – Andrews Meat Industries (AMI), a unit of JBS Australia, acquired meat supplier White Stripe Foods. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
White Stripe Foods supplies premium meat products to the international hospitality market including hotels, restaurants, foodservice providers, retailers and caterers. AMI joined JBS Australia in July 2014 when the Andrews family sold a majority shareholding to JBS. The Andrews family continue to manage operations of Andrews Meat Industries.
“White Stripe Foods has significant market strengths with long-standing clients in over 30 countries, predominantly in Asia and the Middle East, and in some cases, providing local representation which has scope for growth,” said Peter Andrews, chief executive of AMI. “The company has a very successful business model, which we can tap into as we build distribution into the export markets.
“With AMI’s capabilities increasing rapidly, and increased revenue in our core business sectors, this was the perfect opportunity to expand our scope and offering,” Andrews added.
White Stripe Foods will continue to trade under its name and continue to manage operations. The acquisition is expected to boost and enhance AMI’s distribution capabilities.
“White Stripe Foods has a strong history of managing supply relationships in our core markets, so combined with AMI’s experience in production, food service and value-add cooked product, this transaction ensures we can offer to the market enhanced quality product and our leading service,” said Matt Lyne, managing director of White Stripe Foods.
