AUSTIN, Texas & SEATTLE – Amazon and Whole Foods Market announced on Aug. 8 that grocery pickup will become available in Sacramento and Virginia Beach, with more added cities throughout 2018.

The statement released by the company said that Amazon Prime members can now shop at Whole Foods and pick up their order in 30 minutes. Customers can choose free pickup in as little as an hour on orders of $35, or in 30 minutes for $4.99.

Prime Now members in those cities can shop online for products from Whole Foods, including perishable items such as meat, poultry and produce, and have them home delivered at no charge within two hours.

“Pickup from Whole Foods Market is a perfect option for customers who want to grab healthy and organic groceries at their convenience, all without leaving their car,” said Stephenie Landry, Worldwide vice president of Prime Now, AmazonFresh and Amazon Restaurants.

Prime members place their order via the Prime Now app and choose the “pickup” option at checkout. After arriving at the Whole Foods Market store, customers park in a reserved pickup spot. A Prime Now shopper will place groceries into their car within minutes. Groceries will be ready when a customer arrives if the Prime Now app is alerted they are on the way.

Whole Foods customers can also use the delivery service recently launched by the two companies as well. As of July, Chicago, Houston, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and San Antonio now have that option in their area.

With the addition of these locations, grocery delivery for Amazon Prime Now members is available in 19 cities with more to come later this year.
