ATLANTA – Chick-fil-A is dipping its toe in the $5 billion meal kit market with its new Mealtime Kits concept, launching at 150 restaurants in Atlanta beginning Aug 27. A limited-time test offer, Mealtime Kits will be available to Atlanta customers until Nov. 17, and customer feedback on the test will help the company decide if it will roll out the concept nationwide.
Mealtime Kits contain fresh, pre-measured ingredients, including the No Antibiotics Ever marinated chicken Chick-fil-A uses in its menu items, and a recipe card that customers may use to prepare the meal in about 30 minutes, the company said. Customers may pick up the kits in the drive-thru, the front counter or via the Chick-fil-A One app.
“We know our guests are busier than ever and need a variety of convenient dinner options,” said Michael Patrick, innovation program lead at Chick-fil-A, Inc. and leader of the Mealtime Kits effort. “We’re excited to offer Mealtime Kits as a new way for us to serve our guests by providing fresh ingredients to enjoy a delicious meal at home. We designed our offering so our guests don’t have to order ahead, subscribe to a service or make an extra stop at the grocery store. They simply pick up a Mealtime Kit at one of our restaurants at their convenience — for example, when they’re already at a Chick-fil-A restaurant grabbing breakfast or lunch, or in the drive-thru on their way home.”
Chick-fil-A chef and Atlanta restauranteur Stuart Tracy helped develop the five meal kit recipes: Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Enchiladas, Dijon Chicken, Pan Roasted Chicken and Chicken Flatbread. Each Mealtime Kit serves two, costs $15.89 and has a “use-by” date. The available recipes will rotate each month from now until November.
While Chick-fil-A Mealtime Kits are currently only available in Atlanta, customers nationwide may express their interest in trying the meal kits by filling out an online form.
