MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Monogram Foods announced on July 18 that it will be closing operations at its production facility in Schulenburg, Texas, in mid-September 2018.

The company stated that the loss of its primary customer is forcing them to cease production at the Monogram Pet Treats operation. The Monogram facility employed “less than 100 team members” according to the statement released by the company.

“While we make good products consistently and safely in our Schulenburg plant, the best asset that Monogram might lose is the workforce,” Monogram Foods CEO Karl Schledwitz said. “That team is a well-oiled machine with true Texas grit. If Monogram cannot stay, we would love to see someone take advantage of this great production opportunity by acquiring it.”

The Monogram Pet Treats facility operates currently as an FDA facility and could be converted into a USDA facility within a week’s time.

“Monogram is aggressively pursuing all avenues to keep the plant running and the people employed,” the company continued in its statement. “Monogram is also offering current Monogram Pet Treats team members employment and relocation assistance at any of Monogram’s eight other plants.”

The Monogram Pet Treats operations account for about 2 percent of annual business for Monogram Foods.
